BUILDING TRUST

Sustained collaboration

Since 2023, Hope Above Fear has worked intentionally to build meaningful, trust-based partnerships within school districts across Northwest Florida. What began with informational presentations and resource sharing has grown into sustained collaboration — ensuring prevention, education, and early intervention reach students, parents, and educators across Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.

Our engagement has expanded steadily through relationship-building, responsiveness to community need, and consistent collaboration with principals, counselors, educators, district staff, and parent organizations.

We began our journey in 2023, speaking with Escambia County middle and high school principals about fentanyl and substance abuse among adolescents.

2024 ECPS Counselors Back-to-School Community Resource Fair. 6 boxes of Narcan passed distributed.

2024 ECCPTA's Fall Leadership Training Resource Fair.

In October 2024, ECPS announced the proclamation to bring Red Ribbon Week back, a week designated for drug awareness and prevention.

During the 2024 Podcastapoolza, we gave out over a dozen boxes of Narcan and engaged in some intense conversations with students and families.

Equipping our ECPS counselors with knowledge and resources for the 3rd consecutive year.

Our team shared resources at the Escambia County Council PTA Back-to-School meeting, placing 17 boxes of Narcan into the hands of parents and educators.

2025 Podcastapalooza, hosted by Voices United in Education, was packed with amazing resources and families eager to learn more!

We stood alongside the Escambia County School Board as they issued the 2025 Red Ribbon Week Proclamation, recognizing the urgent need for prevention and awareness efforts.

PREVENTION IN THE CLASSROOM

As trust and collaboration have grown, Hope Above Fear’s prevention efforts have expanded directly into student-facing spaces. Through age-appropriate presentations and engagement opportunities, we provide students with education rooted in honesty, connection, and empowerment. These presentations are designed to meet students where they are — offering real information, encouraging critical thinking, and reinforcing that seeking help and making healthy choices are signs of strength.

    Fentanyl Awareness & Education Day

On August 21, 2025, Florida observed the very first Fentanyl Awareness and Education Day, established by the Florida Legislature through House Bill 259. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and the risk of overdose, while encouraging agencies, local governments, and public schools to provide education focused on prevention and early intervention.

Through district-level collaboration, Hope Above Fear’s EMPOWER prevention video was selected as an education solution and shared with all middle and high school students across Santa Rosa County. The same video was later shared across Escambia County middle and high schools during Red Ribbon Week, extending prevention education and awareness across Northwest Florida.

Fentanyl doesn’t care whose life it takes.
But together, we can save lives through awareness, education, and courage.

This awareness video was made possible by the love of families, the courage of youth, and a community determined to end stigma and protect the next generation.

    STRENGTH IN AWARENESS

Strength in Awareness: Turning Hope into Action was a community-wide awareness event hosted in September 2025 to promote youth empowerment, mental health awareness, substance use prevention, and resilience.

Held at Pensacola High School, the event brought together students, families, educators, and community partners across Escambia County for an interactive day focused on turning stigma into strength and awareness into action. Through youth-led performances, creative expression, hands-on activities, and access to local resources, teens were encouraged to explore healthy choices, use their voice, and connect with support in meaningful ways.

By collaborating with student groups, teachers, and prevention partners, Hope Above Fear helped create an accessible, engaging space where education, connection, and empowerment came together — reinforcing the role of schools as a central hub for prevention and community support.
