Choose Your Story Open Mic Night was one to remember! We’re incredibly grateful to Dixon School of Arts & Sciences for welcoming us into their beautiful space and allowing us to use their stage for an unforgettable evening. From singing and instruments to poetry, a magic show, and a delicious dinner from No Borders Street Food, the night was full of talent and connection.
Our Choose Your Story program creates safe spaces where youth can explore new skills, build friendships, and feel empowered to choose their own story. 19 middle and high school students joined us for an unforgettable Dinner & Entertainment experience. Chef Jen Knight, owner of End of The Line Cafe, led a hands-on lesson in pizza making while Magician Nathon Nickerson wowed the group with a few magic tricks and even shared some secrets behind the illusions.
Our Choose Your Story Fishing and Dinner at Steve's Farm couldn’t have been better. A HUGE thank you to the two amazing volunteers (aka fishing experts) who came out to teach and encourage the 18 teens who joined us. The smiles say it all! Everyone had the chance to catch a fish, enjoy some good food, and soak in the joys of summer - connection, laughter, and the great outdoors.
These two yoga instructors showed up at our very first brainstorming session 32 months ago, that meeting sparked the creation of Hope Above Fear. Fast-forward to today, and they led our very first Aerial Silks Choose Your Story. We couldn’t be more grateful to URU Yoga and Beyond for believing in our mission then, and now, just as much. Thanks to their passion and support, the 9 teens who joined this weeks Choose Your Story left feeling empowered, inspired, and ready to soar!
Sometimes things don’t go as planned — and that’s okay. 💙
We were originally planning to go on a boat ride that was postponed due to weather. Just like in life, we pivoted. Instead of hopping on a boat, we spent the afternoon racing go-karts, playing arcade games and laser tag, and sharing pizza and laughs with a few of the teens who were scheduled to join us. 🎮🍕🏁 We made the most of it — and enjoyed every single moment.
This week’s Choose Your Story gathering featured a Zine Workshop led by the 309 Punk Project! ✂️📚 Teens tapped into their creativity, exploring storytelling through art and design. A special thank you to Drowsy Poet for keeping the ideas flowing with refreshing drinks and snacks! 💡🧃
Huge thank you to the The PYC Satori Foundation and Captain Jeff Zern for an unforgettable day on the water! Three of our teens enjoyed a peaceful 3-hour sailing trip, learned the basics of sailing, and even got to watch dolphins playing alongside the boat! These moments of calm, connection, and confidence-building are what our Choose Your Story initiative is all about.
We gathered with 8 middle schoolers and 1 high schooler — some familiar faces, some new ones — and created space to breathe, connect, and get creative at Color Me Mine Pottery Painting. Life moves fast. That’s why we’re committed to making room for moments like this — where teens can just be, surrounded by encouragement and positivity.
We kicked off our Summer 2025 Choose Your Story gatherings under the lights of the Blue Wahoos Baseball Stadium. All eleven teens walked away with a wellness bag, a gift card, and best of all — we won the “Cool Row” of the night award! 🎉 Prevention starts by showing up. It starts with safe spaces, positive outlets, and moments that remind teens they matter.
We partnered with local businesses to create a safe, calming space where youth and their families could unwind and enjoy an afternoon of aroma-filled self-care.
If you need a reminder: You don’t have to have it all together. Just keep showing up, keep trying. You matter. You’re not alone. Don’t give up.
We focus on guiding teens with positivity, optimism, and resilience, empowering them to make healthy decision.
What’s better than an evening on the farm practicing mindfulness, relaxation, and connecting with nature, filled with laughter and adorable animals?!
Our youth deserve happiness and moments to look forward to. Thanks to Oops Alley, we were able to provide that for 14 middle and high school students at our February Choose Your Story gathering. We only have one life to live-and at any moment, we have the power to say, “this is not how my story is going to end”. Instead, we can choose to write a version, filled with hope, resilience, and possibility.
Prevention goes beyond simply refusing drugs and alcohol; it’s about equipping teens with the tools, facts, and inspiration they need to make informed decisions and embrace a positive lifestyle. We focus on guiding teens with positivity, optimism, and resilience.
Stay active. Stay aware. Stay alive. We did just that at the Harlem Globetrotters basketball game!
It takes a lot of bravery to try something new—to step out, even knowing you might fall, and to get back up and try again. It takes courage to lend a hand to a friend, even if it means you might stumble together. Our Choose Your Story skate gathering was a celebration of overcoming fears and tackling challenges head-on. New friendships blossomed, and what started as a skate session turned into an unexpected and unforgettable girls’ day full of laughter and connection!
